Security Tips
The following information was provided by ADT on our Facebook page. With the current state of the “crowbar” type daytime burglaries, we have ascertained various aspects as per hereunder.
1. Over 50% take place between midday and 18h00, with 25% between 18h00 and midnight.
2. Most targeted days are in the following order – Friday, Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
3. Residents to reduce their alarm delay on keypad to minimum – even better change to zero and use remote to set on/off.
4. Put alarm contactors on cupboard doors where safe is, and likewise on side of TVs – ensure linked to your panic signal.
5. Fit a garden beam across the driveway in close proximity to front driveway gate.
6. LOOK around and report any suspicious persons standing on street corners on a cell phone.
7. Report any suspicious up-market type vehicles slowly cruising the neighbourhood – in particular Jetta, Polo, Hyundai, Mercedes all late models – usually white, silver, blue or dark grey.
8. Vehicle occupants usually 3 – 4 b/males, or 3 b/males and 1 b/female, or 3 – 4 c/males – often fairly well dressed in clean t-shirts / golf shirts, pants and shiny shoes.
9. Be alert to anyone ringing your door bell and asking “for directions”, or “is this the guest house”, or “have a delivery for xxx”.

11. Test alarm and ensure all zones correctly identified and correctly listed on client profile – this helps with identifying which zone has gone off.
